Here are some general guidelines for recovery
that will help you to know what to anticipate.
Follow your Physicians strict guidelines at all
times.
 |
Be sure that your
kitchen is stocked with at least a week’s worth
of food and liquids, and make arrangements to
have someone stay with you on your first night
of returning home.
|
 |
Depending on the
type of surgery, patients should expect mild to
moderate pain that is best controlled by taking
pain medications,
as prescribed by your surgeon.
|
 |
If you experience
a significant increase in pain, fever or
difficulty breathing after 48 hours of your
surgery, contact your doctor immediately.
|
 |
Keep all incisions
clean and dry until your first post-operative
visit to the office. Do not remove bandaging
unless your surgeon directs you to change it.
|
 |
Refrain from
physical exercise and stay out of public
swimming pools and natural bodies of water for
at least three weeks after your surgery.
|
 |
Do not smoke for
at least two weeks after surgery.
|
 |
For facelifts or
chin implants, sleep with your head elevated for
at least the first 48 hours.
|
 |
Minimize home and
work responsibilities in the week following your
surgery. Indulge yourself – get some extra
sleep, as it will expedite the healing process.
|
 |
Keep expectations
in check. Most cosmetic and plastic surgeries
take a minimum of one month before yielding
their full results. Swelling takes a while to
subside.
