Who owns the license for TDP line?
Tulip BioMed owns an exclusive license to use Tulip Medical Instrumentation’s patented technology in developing products that are marketed under the Tulip Disposable Products name.
When are products going to be delivered?
We began to ship Class 1 devices, which do not require FDA clearance, at the end of March. We have begun shipping production model cannulas as soon as FDA clearance was received.
Have products received FDA clearance yet?
We have taken all appropriate steps and materials were submitted to the FDA in the end of January. Clearance was received at the end of April 2006.
What are the issues that Tulip Disposable products are designed to solve?
Two critical success factors in the living tissue market are cell viability and minimizing the risk of cross contamination. Tulip BioMed devices are designed to solve contamination issues associated with the reuse of liposuction, fat transfer and stem cell instruments, and at the same time increase the cell viability of tissue for re-injection procedures.
Where is the manufacturing for TBM products done? Why there?
We have established manufacturing relationships where we have been able to get the best quality and cost mix, currently in India and some in San Diego and Florida. We are committed to improving the manufacturing process as we develop new products and will continue to look for a combination of great quality with cost-effectiveness.
What Intellectual Property does the company own?
Tulip BioMed has an exclusive license to use 2 patented and 1 patent-pending technologies in developing our products.
Does Tulip own the patents or does John Johnson own the patents?
John Johnson is the assigned patent-holder. Tulip BioMed has an exclusive license to develop instruments based on these 2 patented and 1 patent-pending technologies.
What are doctors saying about the disposable products?
The doctors on our Board of Scientific Advisors are very excited about the concept of the new disposable products. We are currently sending out sample kits and evaluation forms for feedback from other doctors who test the instruments.
What are your future plans for product development?
We will be introducing additional tip styles for cannulas in the near future. Over the long-term, we will have many instruments and accessories to support living tissue management.
